Relay
Effective 5 October 2026
Relay is a voice assistant for Android and Android Auto, made by Xeno Labs, that lets you ask Claude questions hands-free while you drive. This policy explains what information the app handles, who processes it, and how you can delete it.
What the app handles
- Your voice. When you tap to talk, your device's speech-recognition service turns what you say into text. Relay doesn't record or store audio itself.
- Your questions and Claude's answers. The text of your question, plus the earlier turns of the current conversation, is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate an answer.
- Spoken answers. If you choose one of the AWS Polly voices, the answer text is sent to Amazon Polly to turn it into speech. If you choose a system voice, speech is generated on your device.
- Conversation history. Your questions and answers are saved on your device and backed up to Google Firebase under an anonymous ID, so you can see them in the History screen. There is no sign-up: Relay doesn't ask for your name, email or any account.
- Usage statistics. Google Analytics for Firebase automatically records basic usage events (such as app opens and sessions), your device model, Android version, language and approximate region, plus an app-instance ID and, where available, your device's advertising ID. This is used only to understand how the app is used; it isn't linked to your name and isn't used for advertising.
Relay has no ads and doesn't access your contacts, messages or precise location.
Who processes it
Relay relies on these service providers, each of which handles the data only to provide its part of the app:
- Anthropic (Claude API): generates answers to your questions. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API inputs aren't used to train its models. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Amazon Web Services (Polly): turns answers into speech when you pick a Polly voice. See AWS's privacy notice.
- Google: speech recognition on your device, Firebase for the conversation-history backup, and Google Analytics for Firebase for usage statistics. See Firebase's privacy information.
Your data is never sold, never used for advertising and never shared for marketing. All of it is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
How long it is kept
Conversation history is kept until you ask for it to be deleted. Uninstalling Relay or clearing its app data removes the copy on your device. Anthropic and AWS keep request data only as their own policies describe, linked above. Usage statistics are kept by Google for a limited period (no more than 14 months).
Deleting your data
Because Relay has no accounts, there's nothing to sign out of or close. To remove your history:
- On your device: uninstall Relay, or go to Android Settings → Apps → Relay → Storage → Clear data.
- Usage statistics: uninstalling Relay resets its app-instance ID. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- The cloud backup: email [email protected] and tell us roughly when you used Relay and on what phone. We'll delete your stored conversation history within 30 days and confirm by email.
Children
Relay is intended for adults (18+) and isn't directed at children.
